Swansea Public School is committed to improving the educational outcomes and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students so that they excel and achieve in every aspect of their education.
Thoughout Swansea Public School there are a number Aboriginal paintings that our students pass by every day.
We are working to obtain the stories behind each one of these artworks! If you are the artist or are aware of the stories that have help shaped our school environment please contact us!
Swansea Public School is extremely fortunate to have access to Yarning Circles. Positioned right by the Swansea Channel, our students can participate in meaningful discussions and passing of knowledge.
Personalised Learning Pathways are an active process. They are developed in a consultation process between the student, parents/carers and teachers, to identify, organise and apply personal approaches to learning and engagement. Personalised Learning Pathways can have short term or long term goals. Short term goals can be specific stepping stones to reach long term goals.
The Personalised Learning Pathways document is used by Swansea Public School to ensure Aboriginal students and their parents/carers are actively engaged in meaningful planning and decision-making in education. Personalised Learning Pathways conversations are of great importance as they identify and strengthen shared understandings of goals, expectations and responsibilities. These conversations are respectful and genuine.
The staff at Swansea Public School are commited to participating in frequent Professional Learning that enables Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to match or better the outcomes of the broader student population. Our staff is committed to increasing knowledge and understanding of the histories, cultures and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the First Peoples of Australia.
Our Staff have participated in the following professional learning recently at Swansea Public School:

All of this professional learning has been supported by the Aboriginal Education & Wellbeing Advisor for our area and Department of Education - Shared Services.
The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc (NSW AECG) and the NSW Department of Education (the department) agree to use our best endeavours to ensure that every Aboriginal child and young person in NSW achieves their potential through education.
Swansea Public School is strongly commited to the terms of the Partnership Agreement between the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc and the NSW Department of Education 2020-2030.
